Overview

The Department is led by the Head, who provides leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to ensure the effective functioning of the Department. The Programmes Coordinator oversees and manages the academic programs within the department, whilst the Examinations Officer manages and coordinates the examination processes to ensure the integrity, fairness, and smooth administration of academic assessments in the Department. The Department also has a Field Trip and Vacation Training Coordinator who organises and facilitates field trips and internships for students to provide them with practical exposure and real-world experiences, an Industry Liaison Officer who serves as a bridge between the Department and the industry and a Research Coordinator who oversee and facilitate research activities.

Head of Department

Dr. Yen Adams Sokama-Neuyam, a distinguished Senior Lecturer, is the Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, KNUST. With a proven track record in leadership, research, teaching, and international collaboration, Dr. Sokama-Neuyam who is a visionary and pragmatic leader driven by a high sense of diligence and strong commitment to excellence, is known for his exceptional ability to accomplish tasks with speed and precision. Friendly but firm and just, Dr. Sokama-Neuyam holds a Ph.D. and MSc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Stavanger, Norway, and a BSc. from KNUST. Our industry Advisory Board

To align the academic and research programmes of the Department with the dynamic needs of the petroleum industry, the Department is guided by the KNUST Petroleum Industry Advisory Board (KPIAB) which comprises seasoned industry experts, distinguished alumni, and key stakeholders. Through regular consultations, collaborative initiatives, and strategic planning, the advisory board contributes significantly to enhancing the relevance, quality, and global competitiveness of the petroleum engineering education and research programmes at KNUST. This dynamic partnership ensures that our graduates are well-prepared to meet industry demands and excel in the ever-evolving field of petroleum engineering and our research address the needs of the industry.
